An antique Edwardian silver two-handled christening bowl and spoon, all contained in a fitted case. The case is in good condition for it age.
The body is plain and the handles are ornate.
The Old English pattern spoon is made by the same maker and date.
Dimensions: height (of bowl) 7 cm, width 9.5 cm
Founder of S. Smith & Son, c. 1826. Born in Ilford and trained as a craftsman, Samuel Smith opened his first shop in 149/151 Newington Causeway in London in 1851. His business expanded rapidly, as he gained a reputation for offering a fast and friendly service, enabling him to open a second shop in 1871.

With wife Amelia (age 21 born Southwark) and son Samuel (age 6 months born Southwark). One servant. 1861 Living at Brixton Hill, Streatham (age 35 born Ilford), Jeweller. With wife Amelia (age 31 born Southwark) and children Samuel (age 10 born Southwark), Amelia J. (age 9 born Newington), Joseph J. (age 4 born Newington), Alice (age 3 born Streatham) and Edith A. (age 1 born Streatham). One servant. 1871 Living at Wilton House, 7 Brixton Rise, Brixton (age 45 born Ilford), Jeweller. With wife Amelia (age 41 born Southwark) and their children Samuel (age 20 born Southwark), Jeweller; Amelia Jane (age 19 born Newington); Alice (age 13 born Streatham); Edith Annie (age 11 born Streatham); Amy (age 9 born Lambeth); Kate (age 7 born Lambeth); Emily (age 6 born Lambeth); Jessie (age 4 born Lambeth) and Ada Florence (age 2 born Lambeth). Three servants. 1875 Died.

We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.
Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.
Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
