A beautiful Charles I antique silver two-handled sweetmeat/strawberry dish of scalloped, circular form.
The lobed sides are die-stamped with ornate beaded scrolls around central beaded, flower head stylised, shell handles.
Dimensions: height 2.5 cm, width from handle to handle 20.5 cm, main body 15.2 x 15.2 cm
William Maddox, London silversmith. Apprenticed to his brother John 1599, turned over to John Cheeseman 1600. Free 1606. Livery 1632.
Records show that Maddox had 12 apprentices/freedoms, including his son John, during the years 1607 – 1638.
Maddox specialised in small dishes. Jackson lists four dishes with this mark from 1630 – 34 (Revised Jackson, 1989, p. 115).

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
