Silver vases- became popular in the English tradition during the Victorian era (1837 – 1901).
At that time, they were used to hold flowers and mostly came in pairs. So, they featured a different design (primarily circular cross-section, smaller width and longer stems) to what’s now commonplace.
The decoration on vases was quite wide-ranging, and traditionally blend into its design to give a complete piece of art as well as a functional vase. Some had very ornate floral patterns, pierced declarations with glass liners and others featured plain, round bodies with tapered sides.
