A very fine sterling silver quality handmade copy of a late eighteenth century teapot by the lady silversmith Hester Bateman.
The teapot which looks virtually unused, has beautiful hand engraving and has a large capacity .
The weight is an impressive 21 troy oz so it is probably about 50 percent heavier than the original.
The handle and finial are hand carved fruitwood as in the original.

Charles Fox believed to be the son of Charles Fox I. His first mark entered as plate maker , signed Charles Fox junr, 19th February 1822. Address 139, Old Street, Second mark, 27 January 1823, Third, 21 August 1823, Fourth 23 September 1823, Firth 10 December 1823. Sixth , 9 May 1839. His work shows consistently high quality .
The rapid entry of marks suggests a fairly large establishment with with varying marks used for different categories of work .
Fox was perhaps the last individualist plate-worker before the debacle of Victorian mass production

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
