A rare set of twelve late 18th century dessert forks in the Old English pattern. They still bear a contemporary family crest of a heron on the reverse (slightly worn) and they are in excellent condition with full and even tines.

A rare set of twelve late 18th century dessert forks in the Old English pattern.

They still bear a contemporary family crest of a heron on the reverse (slightly worn) and they are in excellent condition with full and even tines.

Complete sets of Georgian 18th century dessert forks are rare to find.

Dimensions: length 16.3 cm; weight 15 troy oz.

George Smith & William Fearn

George Smith III and William Fearn became partners in 1786 and remained so until around 1792.

The maker’s initials for William Fearn first appeared around 1772, although he was apprenticed to Thomas Chawner in 1762.

George Smith III and George Smith IV were father and son. It is believed that William Fearn was made bankrupt in 1777.

Later he also worked with William Eley and William Chawner.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
