From Grimwade p. 610:

Charles Overing was the son of Thomas Overing late of the Town and County of Leicester. Apprenticed to John Crittall 13 October 1680. Free 8 June 1692.

Mark entered as largeworker, undated, probably April 1697 on commencement of register. Address: Carey Lane, where Heal records him till 1706.

Thomas, son of Charles Overing and his wife, Elizabeth, was born on 15 September 1692 and baptised on 25 September 1692 at St Vedast, Foster Lane. His son, John, was turned over to him on 22 February 1717.

The marriage of Mr Charles Overing of St. John Zachary and Mrs Elizabeth Ludlam of St. Dunstan, Stepney, at St. Michael, Bassishaw on 4 August 1714, presumably refers to a second marriage of the same.

Overing is recorded as “Assistant in Firing” at the Assay Office in 1718 and his son, Thomas, as “Drawer”.
