An antique silver George III oval salver with a leaf and bead border.
The salver stand on four leaf top moulded feet and the centre is engraved with a cartouche containing initials.
This fine salver is struck with the stamp of George III. This stamp was first used in the latter part of 1784 when tax was introduced to pay for the American wars.
Dimensions: width 23.49 cm.
Thomas Hannam completed his apprenticeship to John Cafe in 1761 and went into partnership with John Crouch in 1765.
The firm was known particularly as makers of fine quality trays, salvers and waiters.
Their earlier marks also appear on cast candlesticks (likely due to Hannam’s apprenticeship to the Cafes).
