These candlesticks are beautifully hand chased to the bases and the corinthian capitals are finely pierced.

Each of the original detachable nozzles bears the attractive contemporary crest and the candlesticks are in excellent condition.

Maker
Emick Romer

Emick Romer, son of Michel Michelsen Romer, goldsmith of Oslo (1682 – 1739) born 2 August, 1724.

Seems to have settled in a London in the early 1750s. First mark entered in the missing register around 1758 and was working at 123, High Holborn.

He was a noted supplier to Parker and Wakelin (one of the major suppliers to the King and the nobility) of pierced baskets, epergnes and tea caddies. Candlesticks were also a speciality and most of them have finely pierced decoration to the capitals.

Seems to have returned to Norway by May 1795, where he settled in Halden, in the south of the country.

A maker of fine and unusual pieces.
