Maker
Charles Hatfield

Charles Hatfield, London silversmith. Apprenticed to Joseph Barbutt 1711, turned over to David Williaume in 1715. Free 1727. Two marks (sterling and new standard) entered as large worker 1727. Third mark 1739. Susannah Hatfield, his widow, entered her mark in 1740.

Charles Hatfield was one of the Subordinate Goldsmiths to the King (1723 – 39). His work is comparatively rare and shows signs of Huguenot influence as would be expected from his apprenticeship.
