A pair of fine quality George III silver wine coasters , which are plain in style with a reeded border to the upper and lower parts.
These elegant coasters still retain their original turned oak bases and are in excellent condition with clear hallmarks.
They are made in London in 1799 by Richard Cooke.
Richard Cooke entered his makers mark on the 28 June 1799 and was a very fine maker.
Dimensions, diameter 12.5 cm, height 3.1 cm.
Richard Cooke, London silversmith. No record of apprenticeship or freedom. Only mark entered as plateworker 1799.
Arthur Grimwade describes his work as good standard. Cooke probably supplied one of the leading retailers Rundell & Co or Jefferys, Jones and Gilbert.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
