An antique silver Victorian goblet/beaker with attractive hand engraving made in 1868 by Alexander Macrae of London.
It is of a rare shape, with a vase shape body leading to a beaded circular foot.
It will hold about 325 ml of wine or water and is in lovely condition.
Dimensions: 11.1 x 8 cm; weight 5.78 troy oz.
Alexander Macrae was the founder of the firm that went on to be C J Vander Ltd. He is recorded at 32 Bow Street, Covent Garden WC on 22 September 1856.
He was joined in partnership by Martin Goldstein c. 1870, whereupon the style of the firm was changed to Macrae & Goldstein – first listed in 1871 as a silversmith.
Alexander Macrae supplied many of the great firms at that time such as Elkington, Harry Emanuel and Hunt & Roskell.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.
Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
