Description

A very fine  quality William IV period sterling silver vinaigrette.

The grille is finely pierced with a book and two quills amidst a floral design.

The border has excellent raised cast work and the cartouche to the centre bears  initials ‘M L’.

The vinaigrette feels lovely in the hand and is in very good condition.

Dimensions, length 4.1 cm,  width 3 cm, height 1.4 cm.

Weight, 1.1 troy oz.

Perhaps Thomas William son of John Edwards of Wimbledon taylor , apprenticed to John Robins of Aldersgate Street Goldsmith 3 June 1789. Freedom unrecorded.

First mark entered as plateworker, 21 August 1816. Address :7 Frog Long, Islington. Moved to 19, Windsor Place, City Road, 19 October 1816 and to 4 Wellington Street, Goswell Street, 24 February 1820.

Second mark, 25 October 1822. Address 21 Wellington Street. Third, 1November 1822. Fourth to April 1823. Moved to 23 Ratcliff Row , 18 January 1836.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
