A rare Victorian antique silver vesta case with suspension loop.

The case is finely chased with a representation of Queen Victoria in a heart-shaped cartouche amidst floral motifs to one side, and a vacant heart-shaped cartouche amidst floral motifs to the other.

The case was made in Chester in 1896-97 for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee (celebrating 60 years on the throne).

Along with the hallmarks to the inside and lid, it also has a design registry mark struck twice to the sides.

It is in excellent condition.

Dimensions: 5.25 cm  x 4 cm (excluding suspension ring); weight 1 troy oz.

Firm established by William Neale in 1850 in Birmingham. Later the firm became William Neale & Sons as a partnership of William Neale Sr., William Neale Jr. and Arthur Neale, building new premises at 29 Warstone Lane, Birmingham (1896).

In 1905, the firm was converted into a limited liability company under the style of William Neale & Sons Ltd moving in 1910 at 34 Cox Street, St. Paul’s Square, Birmingham.

In 1941, the firm was absorbed by Suckling Ltd.

We provide worldwide postage/shipping and everything is fully tracked and insured. Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
