Description

A delightful octagonal panelled mustard pot, each panel is engraved with floral decoration.

This Victorian mustard pot retains the original hallmarked panelled hinged lid surmounted by a shaped thumbpiece and has a shaped handle.

The mustard pot is fitted with the original removable blue glass liner.

Dimensions, Height 6 cm, width from side to handle 8.5 cm.

Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II

The founder, Joseph Angell, was apprenticed to Henry Nutting 1796, free 1804. First mark entered as plateworker 1811, second marks 1824. Third in partnership with his brother John Angell (apprenticed to William Elliott 1799, free 1807) in 1831. In circa 1837 Joseph’s son Joseph joined the business which became Angell, Son & Angell. In 1840 John Angell left and Joseph Angell senior and junior continued with a new mark (JA over JA). Their address was 55, Compton Street, Clerkenwell.

Joseph junior continued in his own name after his father’s retirement in 1848, participating in many major exhibitions and winning many awards of excellence.  He was in partnership with John Browne after which he traded as Angell & Co. John Angell’s son, John Charles Angell was apprenticed to his father 1824, free 1831.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
