A fine Georgian mustard pot which still retains its white glass liner.

The upper part of the mustard pot has a bold sloping gadroon border with a smart shell thumbpiece, a plain handle and is engraved with a very fine crest belonging to the original owner.

It is in fine condition throughout.

Dimensions: height (to thumbpiece) 7 cm, width (to handle) 10.5 cm; weight (without liner) 4 troy oz.

Thomas Ross, son of Bartholomew Ross of Wardour Street, Soho.

Apprenticed to Thomas Rowe of Gutter Lane as silver polisher on 6 August 1794. Free 7 July 1802. His brother, Bartholomew, was apprenticed to him in 1804, when Thomas was of Hooper Street, Clerkenwell.

First mark entered as plateworker on 10 November 1819. Address: 19 Green Street, Leicester Square.

Second mark: 14 February 1821.

Third mark: 11 November 1825.

Moved to 39 Princes Street, Leicester Square on 16 November 1837.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
