A very fine and large antique silver wine funnel which still retains its original muslin ring.
This larger than normal wine funnel has a thick gadrooned border with a lobed centre section.
The funnel is in lovely condition with all the separate pieces correctly marked and an original thumbpiece.
Dimensions: 16.1 x 9.1 cm; weight 5.46 troy oz.
A London silversmith firm whose origins go back to 1791, when John Lias began business as a buckle maker.
In 1818, he took as his partner his son, Henry Lias I, and they were joined from 1823 to 1837 by another son, Charles.
The Lias brothers were known for producing quality flatware. Henry Lias I and his son Henry Lias II were partners from 1850. In 1879, Henry Lias II formed a firm with James Wakely.
In 1884, the firm consisted of James Wakely and Frank Wheeler, becoming Wakely & Wheeler in 1909.
In 1957, the business was acquired by Padgett & Braham Ltd.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
