A very fine early George III silver wine bottle/ decanter coaster, which still retains its original mahogany base and has a beautifully hand pierced design surmounted with a gadroon border.
A lovely coaster and about as early a coaster as one is likely to find as they are almost unknown before the early 1760s.
Made in London in 1772 by Robert Piercy.
Dimensions, diameter 12 cm, height 5.5 cm.
Robert Piercy is a noted silversmith and mentioned in Grimwade’s book of Silversmiths, starting his apprenticeship in 1750.
His father is listed as White Piercy, blanket maker.

We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.
