A fine and unusual eight-sided Georgian silver teapot stand/salver which stands on four delicate shaped reeded feet.

It is decorated with excellent hand engraving and there is a vacant oblong-shaped cartouche to the centre.

The condition of the piece is excellent and was made in the year of the founding of Australia (1788).

Dimensions: length 16 cm, width 11.5 cm; weight 4.7 troy oz.

John Hutson

Apprenticed to Richard Rugg (specialist salver maker) in June, 1761. Free in August, 1768. Mark entered on 2nd January 1784 at 35 St John’s Square, Clerkenwell.

A fine maker who specialised in salvers, often with very fine engraving. Unlike his master, Richard Rugg, he made other articles such as teapots, tea caddies and chambersticks.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
