A delightful antique silver George III teapot of oval form. The upper and lower portions of the teapot are ornamented with a band of bright-cut engraving.

One side of the teapot has bright-cut engraving, depicting a plain cartouche surrounded by bows and swags.

The teapot has a pull-off lid with a silver finial, and has a fine line of bright-cut engraving around the edge.

Dimensions: height (to top of finial) 12.7 cm, width (from spout to handle) 24.2 cm

William Holmes

Working from about 1762, he entered into partnership with David Whyte in Clerkenwell Green (1764-67). He works alone for a period and then enters into a partnership with the Huguenot silversmith, Nicholas Dumee, in 1773.

In January 1776, he works alone and retires in the early 1790s.

A fine maker – normally in the neoclassical style – famous for cups and covers and tureens.

He worked at 12 Clerkenwell Green.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
