Description

An Antique Sterling Silver George III drum mustard pot, with a plain cylindrical body, engraved with the initial M.

The body of the mustard has applied reeded borders.

The mustard pot has a hinged lid, with a plain thumbpiece and a knop finial.

The pot has a plain scroll handle and an internal blue glass liner.

Dimension, height to side 6 cm, width 6 cm.

Abstainando, the son of Peter and Ann King of Long Alley, was christened in 1764 at St Leonard, Shoreditch.

Duty was paid in 1795 as a silversmith from St James, Clerkenwell for the apprentice indentures of Joseph Story (Grimwade p. 672). The christenings of Mary in 1793, James in 1795, John in 1800 and Elizabeth in 1801, children of Abstainando and Margaret King, were recorded at St James, Clerkenwell.

On the testimony of John Denziloe (Grimwade p. 490) Abstainando King was admitted by patrimony to the Curriers Company in 1803, his late father, Peter, having been a freeman in that Company. He paid Duty in 1803 as a freeman of the Curriers Company for the apprentice indentures of James P Davis (Grimwade p. 485).

His burial in 1833 aged 70 years, late of Red Lion Street, was recorded at St John, Clerkenwell.

We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
