Description

A rare early George III drum-shaped mustard pot with a pull out cobalt blue liner.

This mustard is about as early as one could find and still bears a contemporary crest to the side.

Mustard pots are virtually unknown until the early 1760s and this is a fine example in good condition.

Dimensions: height (to thumbpiece) 7 cm, width (handle to end) 9.5 cm, diameter 6.5 cm; weight (without liner) 4.15 troy oz.

Maker
Edward Aldridge

Edward Aldridge entered his first mark in 1724 and worked in Foster Lane. Second mark in 1739 and third mark, in partnership with John Stamper, in 1753. Died 1766.

A very fine maker who specialised in beautiful pierced work, most notably on baskets and inkstands.
