Antique Silver George III Coffee Pot made in 1799
A very fine large vase shape Georgian silver coffee pot with outstanding original engraving and a cartouche on one side.
The cartouche is engraved with contemporary initials.
This beautiful coffee pot is in superb condition.
The finial is finely formed as a pineapple, a symbol of hospitality.
There is quite a similar coffee pot in the Victoria and Albert Museum dated the same year, except the museum example does not have such fine engraving.
Dimensions, height 29 cm, length from handle to end of spout 30 cm.

Part of the famous Bateman family. Hester Bateman’s sons, Peter Bateman and John Bateman, registered their mark in 1790. This partnership was of short duration as Jonathan, who married Ann Downlinff, died in 1791.
In 1791, the mark was changed to Peter and Ann Bateman. Ann was Jonathan’s widow and not Peter’s wife (he married Alice Beavoir) or Hester’s daughter (Ann Bateman married Richard Cottrill).
In 1800, the mark of Peter Bateman, Ann Bateman and William (I) Bateman was registered. William Bateman was the son of Jonathan and Ann Bateman, who, in 1800, entered in partnership with his uncle Peter and his mother Ann.
In 1805, after the retirement of Ann, was registered the new mark of Peter Bateman and William (I) Bateman.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
