A fine George II covered sugar bowl which is gently baluster-shaped on a circular foot with a pine cone finial.

The bowl is plain with no personal engravings, clearly hallmarked underneath and is correctly part marked on the lid.

It would be a perfect accompaniment to a Georgian coffee or teapot.

A very elegant piece.

Dimensions: height 16.25 cm, diameter 9.3 cm; weight 8.5 troy oz.

Turned over to John Betts on 27th February, 1735. Free 6th September, 1743.

Livery 1750. Mark entered as largeworker 1751. Address: Wood Street, where Heal records him as plateworker, at no. 106 from 1751 to 1781.

Appears as goldsmith at Wood Street, in the Parl.

An alternative identification is as son of Richard Bayley, apprenticed to James Smith 1732, and turned over to his father, freedom unrecorded.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
