Description

A fine George II sterling silver coffee, of a plain and gentle baluster shape onto a spreading foot.

The pot has a finely cast and chased swan neck spout and a knopped finial.

The underneath still bears the  maker’s scratch weight of 25 troy oz 6 dwt , excluding  handle.  The coffee pot is in good condition throughout.

The pot is made in 1754 by William Shaw and William Priest of London .

William Shaw II, apprenticed to John Swift 1736, free 1748. First mark entered as large worker 1749. Second and third marks, in partnership with William Priest, 1749 and 1759.

William Priest (or Preist), apprenticed to Richard Gurney 1740, free 1749. First and second marks entered as large worker in partnership with William Shaw in 1749 and 1759. Third mark with his brother James Priest in 1764; they worked together until 1773.

The Shaw & Priest partnership specialised in making good quality hollowware coffee pots, tankards and some salvers.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
