A very fine early George II period silver salver with a Chippendale or pie crust pattern border.
The salver is engraved with a coat of arms. and stands on three bold hoof feet.
It was made in London in 1738 by Richard Gosling of London.
The salver is a lovely colour a very heavy weight and is in excellent condition throughout.

Son of Richard Gosling late Citizen and Haberdasher of London deceased, apprenticed to Matthew Cuthbert 28 May 1712 on payment. Of £25. Free, 3 September 1719 Mark entered as small worker, 14 March 1733. Address: at ye Fox and Crown barbican. Second mark as largeworker, 28 June 1739. Address; Barbican. Moved to Cornhill, 7 July 1743.third mark, 10 August 1748.
Heal records him at Cornhill till 1754.
