Antique Silver Charles I Saint Matthias Apostle Spoon made in 1639

A very fine Charles I Silver Saint Matthias Apostle Spoon with a fig shaped bowl and facetted tapering stem.
The spoon is engraved on the back of the bowl with the original betrothal initials A M and S F with the date 1640.
The terminal which still retains it’s original light gilding represents Saint Matthias.
The top of the finial is struck with the holy dove symbol.
The condition is excellent with a lovely patina and looks almost unused.
The spoon is made in London in 1639 by T P in a shaped shield (attributed to Thomas Payne).
The Saint Matthias apostle spoon listed in Jackson’s book is almost certainly this example. (see enclosed pictures).

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.
