Born 7 May 1807. Christening record for St Botolph, Bishopsgate dated 21 July 1807. Father Thomas Burn Hopgood (Grimwade p. 551).

1841 UK Census for Bishopsgate as a goldsmith. 1851 UK Census as a visitor at 30 Finchley Road, Hampstead. Occupation recorded as a Common Councilman of London and goldsmith. 1861 UK Census for Queens Road, South Weald as a goldsmith. 1871 UK Census for an unreadable address in Brixton as a retired goldsmith.

Died 1871. London Deaths & Burials Index for Norwood Cemetery register dated 8th December 1871. Aged 64 years, last address Herne Hill. National Probate Calendar Principal Registry dated 27 December 1871 gives date of death as 3 December. Value of estate under £35000.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
