Antique Silver Victorian Teapot made in 1845

A Victorian antique sterling silver tea pot is of baluster type form with a chinoiserie finial. The body of the teapot is beautifully embellished with shells, leaves and flowers. On one side there is a coat of arms of a Scottish family - whose motto is "I fall so I can rise again" - on the other is their crest.

A Victorian antique sterling silver teapot is of baluster type form with a chinoiserie finial. The body of the teapot is beautifully embellished with shells, leaves and flowers. On one side there is a coat of arms of a Scottish family – whose motto is “I fall so I can rise again” – on the other is their crest.

Dimensions: height to finial 15.8 cm, width from handle to spout 22.25 cm, base 10.75 cm; weight 23 troy oz.

William Ker Reid

William Ker Reid was the son of Christian Ker Reid of Newcastle and was free in 1814. His first mark was in partnership with Joseph Craddock on 8 June 1812. He worked alone from 8 November 1825. He moved addresses four times, but always worked in the Chancery Lane area.

His son William Ker Jr. was apprenticed to him in 1846 and another son, Edward Ker Reid, in 1844.

He died in 1868.

Mark usually found on very fine quality holloware such as dishes, tea sets and candelabra.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
