Description

A towering and statuesque pair of antique silver George III three light candelabra.

The sconces of the candlesticks are embossed with staggered shell scroll corners, and the waisted fluted columns are embossed with leaf scroll corners on shaped, circular bases which are highly embossed. The branches are embellished with fruiting vines and are leaf capped. The bases are crested and this is repeated on the centre scone of each branch.

These magnificent candelabra would grace any home or occasion. The Queen owns a set of 12 candlesticks of exactly the same model and silversmith, which entered the Royal collection through Queen Victoria (pictured in additional images).

All made by Kirkby, Waterhouse & Co in 1819 (one branch in 1814).

Dimensions: height at side  23.5 inches , 59.69 cm; height at centre, 20 inches ,  50.80 cm; full span 20.5 inches,   50.07 cm ; width of base 7 inches,  17.78 cm.

Weight: weight of branches 119 troy oz ( the candlesticks are filled).

A well known Sheffield Silversmithing firm of the early 19th century. The partners were James Kirkby, Joseph Waterhouse and John Hodgson.

Made candlesticks, candelabra and fine large presentation silver.

The Queen owns a set of 12 Candlesticks 1814/1815 by this maker, having entered the Royal collection via Queen Victoria.

Delivery Details

We provide worldwide postage/shipping and everything is fully tracked and insured. Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
