Description

A very fine Georgian silver goblet of large size , with a richly gilded interior , standing  on a circular foot with lobed decoration leading to a plain campana shape body.

The goblet is engraved with the crest of a Unicorn.

The goblet has a capacity of around 500 ml, just less than a UK pint.

This substantial goblet is in fine condition and was made in the last year of George IIIs reign.

Dimensions, height 16.2 cm.,  diameter of bowl 11.2 cm.

William Henry son of John Sharp of Fish Street Hill, Colchester clockmaker,  apprenticed to Samuel Wheatley of Old Street St. Luke’s as silversmith 7th March 1810 on payment of £36.15s. free 2nd July 1817, First mark entered as plateworker , 31 st March 1817. Address; 3 Old street, St Lukes’s. Moved to 16 Red Cross Square. 23 January 1818. Second mark, 16 September 1824.

Purchases will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, Parcel Force, A-Z couriers; other delivery providers may be used in extenuating circumstances. We deliver to the address provided at the time of purchase but not to PO addresses, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Some countries levy import duties and local taxes. Payment of these is the purchaser’s responsibility and beyond the control of William Walter Antiques Ltd. When the container has reached the destination country, a customs representative will contact you for payment prior to delivery.

Import restrictions are applicable to some destinations, especially the import of products containing materials such as ivory and tortoiseshell. We cannot accept orders requiring shipment to any countries which implement such controls.

All items are checked and photographed prior to packaging, and we aim to dispatch 1-3 days after receiving cleared payment.
