William Stephenson
First mark entered in 1775 at Pelican Court, Old Bailey. Moved to Gutter Lane in 1776 and moved again to Lombard Street in 1781. Heal recorded him at Lombard Street until 1796. Land Tax assessment books show William Stephenson continued at that address until 1824.
The will of William Stephenson, silversmith of Lombard Street, was proved for probate on 9 March 1823 (National Archives reference (PROB 11/1668/268). The Land Tax assessments on the property in Lombard Street continued to show his name in 1824, for one year in 1825 as Stephenson & Farrow, and William Stephenson alone in 1826 - suggesting perhaps a son carried on the business (Grimwade p. 670).
