Robert Stewart

Robert Stewart was originally established by two brothers in 1835 as "Allan and Robert Stewart, Clock and Watchmakers of Glasgow". Robert Stewart continued to grow the business alone, and between 1886 and 1896, it is documented that Robert Stewart was appointed goldsmith, jeweller, wholesaler and silversmith to Queen Victoria.

Here we have our very pretty Art Nouveau antique silver flower epergne🌼

It stands on a hand pierced oval base and has three detachable trumpet vases which are finely pierced to the top.

The epergne - which is all silver (no weighting to the base) - is in excellent condition and hallmarked correctly to all the detachable parts.

Underneath the base, it is engraved "Mappin & Webb" to one side and, to the other, it carries a registered design mark for 1912. Mappin & Webb would have registered this mark so no competitors could copy their design.

Dimensions: height 23 cm, width across 37 cm; weight 17 troy oz.

A fine Victorian silver hand chased and decorative mug.

The mug has a shaped vacant cartouche to the front and two smaller oval cartouches, one to each side. The decoration on the mug is what is sometimes referred to as the ‘Cellini’ style, after the sixteenth century silversmith from Florence.

The mug is of fine weight and good condition and made in London in 1873 by Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall, (Martin Hall and Company).

Dimensions, height to top of handle 12.5 cm.
