Mathew Linwood
Matthew Linwood I, Birmingham silver maker, was born in 1754, apprenticed to Joseph Hunt (described in directories as a "gilt toy, plated military and crest button maker").
He registered three marks between 1773 and 1801.
His son Matthew Linwood II (1756 - 1826) was a notable maker of silver boxes. Guardian of the Birmingham Assay Office in 1811. He registered marks in 1813 in partnership with his son Matthew Linwood III (1783 - 1847) who later moved to London, opening a jeweller's shop in Fleet Street.
