A very rare early George III toast rack made in the year of America’s independence from Britain.

The five bar toast rack – suitable for four slices of bread – has a wirework frame which is anchored on to the oval bead frame by three rods underneath (this can be removed if needed to assist cleaning).

The toast rack stands on four beautiful ball and claw feet.

This is one of the earliest toast racks one is likely to encounter and is in super condition.

Dimensions: height 12 cm, length 19.7 cm, width 13.4 cm; weight 11 troy oz.

Burrage Davenport

Hallmarks registered prior to March, 1773. His workshop was 6 Foster Lane, London.

He was known for making exceptional cake baskets, inkstands and seems to have specialised in fine pierced work.
