John Walter

John Walter is the managing director of William Walter Antiques Ltd. He is the grandson of our founder, William Walter, so the company is now run by the third generation of the family.

He began his connection with the company after studying Classics and Archaeology at university in the early eighties, and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of Georgian silversmiths, makers marks and early silver. He is a respected dealer and is constantly asked by other shop owners for his opinion on their pieces.

John is fuelled by his passion for silver and will spend hours matching up cutlery for a client if they have lost an item or want to add extra pieces to their service.

Elizabeth Simpson

Elizabeth joined William Walter Antiques in 1993 after working for a firm of chartered accountants, and prior to that, her background was in business management.

One of Elizabeth’s responsibilities is to catalogue silver. On handling the pieces, she is constantly amazed by silversmiths craftsmanship, considering they have none of the modern utilities.

Elizabeth is also known for her customer service and she is the first point of contact with any website enquires. She enjoys working with the customers to find a special gift; they are often starting family traditions and it is a privilege to be part of their history.
