Joseph Lewis from  Grimwade page 581 Joseph Lewis was the son of Joshua Lewis of Newbury in the Country of Berkshire brazier , apprenticed to John Eaton 7 February 1759, Free, 3 June 1766. First mark 3 June 1766. First mark entered as small worker, 30 October 1767. Address: 57 Wood Street Cripplegate. Second mark, 4 January 1768. Address: 38 Foster Lane, where he appears as buckle-maker in the Parl. Reports list 1773, and entered three marks as such, 1775-83 (section VIII). Sixth mark as plate-worker, 30 October 1792. Address: 8 Cheapside . Seventh mark, 4 April 1795. Address :32 Norton Folgate. Moved to 20 Aldgate , 9 January 1796. Heal records him as buckle-maker and goldsmith, 38 foster Lane, 1769-84: and at 8 Cheapside, 1790-6. His son Joseph, aged nine, was admitted to St Paul’s School, 2 April 1783.
