John Wyke & Thomas Green

John Wyke In the 1773 Report on Assay Offices the name of John Wyke (though the Minutes Clerk mistook the name and wrote White) is coupled with that of his partner Thomas Green of Liverpool, amongst other silversmiths and plate workers who had entered their marks at Chester and who were alive at the time. Wyke and Green were both watchmakers, hence their combined marks IW above TG incuse, normally associated with watchmakers, but as with many watchcase makers they were responsible on occasions for making small articles in silver. The names are listed by Jackson on page 377 under 1773.
