Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp

Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp, a London silversmith partnership 1763 - 1788. Working at 14, Westmoreland Buildings, Aldersgate. Very important makers whose work is always of outstanding quality. They supplied silver to the Royal Family and the upper echelons of British society. Their mark is normally found on holloware such as plates, dishes, cups and salvers. They made very fine Candlesticks and Candelabra, too.

So many goblets and chalices!

Goblets from the 1760s onward are usually reasonably large and of plain form with some fine engraving appearing by the 1780s. The early goblets tend to stand on a circular foot and by the 1790s sometimes on a square pedestal foot or of a shaped nature.

This fine pair of very large Victorian silver Sabbath style candlesticks which are finely hand chased and retain their original nozzles. The candlesticks are much taller than usual (38 cm) and are not filled (silver all the way through).
